Vaggokul Jamidar Bari Munshiganj

Zamindar Jadunath Saha built Vaggokul Palace in Bhagyakul village of Munshiganj Srinagar upazila around 1900. Jadunath Saha was originally a businessman and he used to import products like salt, betel nut, saris etc. from Barisal and export them to Murshidabad. The two-storied Bhagyakul zamindar house bears a striking resemblance to the Baliati zamindar house of Manikganj. The front of the building has 8 columns, which mainly indicate the characteristics of Greek architecture. The inner walls of the main building have designs of peacocks, snakes and various flowers and birds.

Due to the fact that the doors and windows of Bhagyakul Zamindar's house are of the same size, it is quite difficult to guess the doors and windows when closed. The main building is built around the whole area of ​​the house, and the courtyard is located in the middle of it. There is a wooden staircase to move from the first floor to the second floor of the house. Jadunath Saha built separate houses for his 5 children. The houses are known to local people as Kokilpeary Zamindar Bari, Ukil Bari, Jaj Bari and Bhagyakul Zamindar Bari. The distance from one house to another house is 40 to 50 yards. However, the Bhagyakul Zamindar house in Bandura is currently in relatively good condition.

The distance of Bandura journey from Dhaka via Nawabganj is 35 km. From Gulistan, one can take a rickshaw to Bhagyakul Zamindar's house and take a rickshaw to Balasur Bazar by bus from Garibe Newaz, Mahanagar, Aram or Seva Paribahan on the Dhaka-Dohar route.

You can usually go to Munshiganj in a day from Dhaka and come back in a day. However, if you want to stay overnight, you can stay in Srinagar upazila.
