Suhrawardy Udyan Dhaka

Suhrawardy Udyan (Suhrawardy Udyan) is one of the historical places of Bangladesh located in Shahbagh of the capital Dhaka . A silent witness to various important events, Suhrawardy Udyan was formerly known as Ramana Race Course Maidan. At one time horse racing was organized here, but now Suhrawardy Udyan is recognized as a cool place surrounded by various green trees.

Suhrawardy Udyan is popular with Bangladeshis for another historical background. It is here that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman presented the World Cup epic on March 7. And on December 16, 1971, the Pakistan Army surrendered to the Allies in Suhrawardy Udyan. As a symbol of freedom, the eternal flame and the freedom pillar have been built here.

There are also many traditional and important structures around Suhrawardy Udyan. Among which Old High Court Building, Shrine of Three Leaders, Bangla Academy, Atomic Energy Commission, TSC, Fine Arts Institute, Dhaka University Central Mosque, Jatiya Kabir Samadhi, Public Library, Bangladesh National Museum, Ramna Park, Shishu Park etc. are notable.

Coming to Dhaka University area from any part of Bangladesh, one can enter Suhrawardy Udyan through the gate of Photo Hut located opposite to Fine Arts Institute.
