Mainamati Museum Comilla

Mainamati Museum, located in Salmanpur, 14 kilometers from Comilla, is an important place in Bangladesh as a museum of archaeological artifacts. The 42 different archives of the Mainamati Museum have preserved various artifacts from the seventh and eighth centuries from different places in Comilla. Ancient artifacts include bronze and stone figurines, large bronze bells, gold and silver coins, terracotta plaques, bronze, copper and iron objects, clay toys, wooden artifacts, pottery artifacts and ancient manuscripts. Apart from this, restrooms and beautiful flower gardens have been built around the museum.

Excavations at Sribhavadar's Mahavihara, Kotila Mura, Charatra Mura, Rupban Mura, Itakhola, Anand Vihar, Rani Bangla and Bhoja Raja's Bari Vihar in Comilla have unearthed many valuable archeological artifacts. Mainamati Museum was established in 1965 on the south side of Shalbon Vihar in Kotbari, Comilla for the purpose of preserving these valuable ancient artifacts. Later, due to lack of space, the south part of the main building of the museum was slightly enlarged in 1971.

Entry ticket price is Rs.20 per person. And children below 5 years have free entry to the museum. Apart from this, the ticket price per person for foreign decathletes belonging to SAARC is Tk 100 and the entry ticket price for foreign tourists from all other countries is Tk 200.

Mainamati Museum and Shalban Vihar are closed on Sundays and public holidays every week and half day on Mondays.

From Dhaka's Syedabad Bus Terminal and Kamalapur to Kusht ( 01981-002932 , 01981-002942 ), Tisha ( 01731-217322 ), Star Line, BRTC ( 01770-493775 ), Royal, Asia Line Paribahan to Comilla costs Tk 250 to Tk 400 per person. . Or you can take any bus bound for Chittagong or Feni to Comilla Cantonment and go to Mainamati Museum by CNG/auto from Kotbari Bishwaroad.

Comilla has a variety of quality hotel restaurants to cater to daily dining needs. Besides, you can taste the famous rasmalai, rasgolla, bhagwati's peda and mithai's malai chop and matribhoomi's malaikari from the original mother store located in Manoharpur, Comilla.
