Beauty Boarding Dhaka

Beauty Boarding of old Dhaka is a unique hangout place for poets and writers of Bangladesh. Beauty Boarding is standing on Shrisdas Lane, a little beyond Banglabazar's book market. Although Beauty Boarding may seem dilapidated compared to other attractions of Old Dhaka, it has the footprints of time all over it.

In 1949 Prahlad Saha and his brother Nalini Mohan Saha built this beauty boarding on 11 khata land. The boarding is named after Nalini Mohan's elder daughter Beauty. Since its inception, poets, writers, intellectuals, artists, journalists, film directors, actors, singers and other legendary people of various professions used to hang out at Beauty Boarding. Even Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Pallikbi Jasimuddin and the greatest Bengali of a thousand years Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman came to the beauty boarding. At that time there were several other places of literature and culture related chats but everyone got genuine love for beauty boarding.

During partition in 1947, the original owner of this house, Jamidar family, sold the property and migrated to India. Sudhir Chandra Das set up a printing press here. Then a magazine called Sonar Bangla was published from this printing house. Later in 1949 the office of Sonar Bangla Patrika was shifted to Kolkata when Prahlad Chandra Saha and his brother Nalinikant Saha bought this place from Sudhir Chandra Das and started residential hotel and restaurant business.

Come to Gulistan from anywhere in Dhaka and take a bus from there to Bahadur Shah Victoria Park. Banglabazar is only after Bahadur Shah Park. And Banglabazar will show you the way to beauty boarding if you ask anyone. If you want, you can take a rickshaw directly from Gulisthan to go to beauty boarding.

Or you can take a bus (malnch) from Shahbagh Aziz Supermarket in Dhaka to the wooden pool and directly ride a rickshaw to come to Banglabazar's Srishadash Lane Beautyboarding.

Apart from this, from Mahakhali to Ajmeri Paribahan and Sky Line and from Gabtali by bus number 7 and Savar Paribahan to Jagannath University, beauty boarding can be done by rickshaw. And it is only a five minute walk from Sadarghat terminal.

There are various types of food arrangements in beauty boarding. You can eat cheap local food. The food list includes rice, pulses, vegetables and various bhartas. Among the fish, there are various types of pada including Sarisa Hilsa, Rui, Katla, Chital, Pabda, Shing, Koi, Magur, Prawns, Boal, Coral fish, Ai fish broth. Hilsa is always available here (if available in the market). If you want to taste hilsa, you have to spend 150-180 taka. Here chicken and beef meat is 80-100, khichuri plate is 40 taka, polao plate is 50 taka and muridhant is only 70 taka.

Beauty boarding is available. At present Beauty Boarding has a total of 27 single and double bed rooms. The rent of each room here is Tk 200 to Tk 1,200.
