Jamalpur Shahi Masjid is located in Bara Jamalpur village under Sadullapur upazila, 16 km west of Gaibandha district headquarters. According to legend, 360 awliyas from Iraq spread to different parts of the world to spread Islam about 600 years ago. Among them, this historic Shahi Mosque was built under the supervision of Sufi Hazrat Shah Jamal (R) who came to Gaibandha and the Union Parishad and the mosque were named after him. The shrine of Hazrat Shah Jamal is located on the north side of the mosque.
The Jamalpur Shahi Mosque was buried in the ground for a long time. Later in the 60th century, a person named Haqqani Qutbuddin, the administrator of Gaibandha Sub-Division tried to search the mosque but failed. The local people saw the mosque when the banyan trees growing in the place of the mosque were suddenly broken by a heavy storm. For this reason, many people call it Ghaibi Mosque. There is a huge Dighi in front of the mosque, and there are many legends surrounding the Dighi.
The lower wall of Jamalpur Shahi Mosque is 72 inches and the upper wall is 56 inches thick. Inside the mosque, only 2 rows of prayers were available, so the mosque was expanded and renovated while keeping the original infrastructure intact. At present, around 500-700 worshipers can pray together in this two-storey Shahi Mosque.
