Bawashara Lake is located on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway near Choto Kamaldoh Bazar in Wahedpur Union of Mirsarai Upazila. Generally, one has to reach the highway, get off near the bazar and proceed east towards the lake following local directions. One should confirm the road conditions and final entry point before starting the journey.
By bus from Dhaka
- Travel from Dhaka to any suitable station in Chittagong or Mirsarai area using intercity bus services.
- Check with the operator in advance whether the bus stops at Chota Kamaldoh Bazar. Some buses may stop at Baraiarhat or another nearby highway point instead.
- From the appropriate stop, hire a local CNG autorickshaw or any other suitable vehicle to reach the lake entrance.
- Follow local directions to reach your final destination, which may include some walking depending on road and traffic conditions.
For planning purposes, a one-way Dhaka-Chittagong intercity bus fare can be estimated at ৳600–৳1,800, depending on the operator, seat type, and date of booking. This is an estimate, not a confirmed current fare. Additional charges will apply for subsequent local transportation.
By train from Dhaka
- Book an intercity train from Dhaka to Chittagong or any other suitable railway station serving the region.
- From Chittagong, take the bus north towards Mirsarai, Baraiyarhat or Choto Kamaldho and confirm the stop with the conductor.
- Use local CNG autorickshaws or any other vehicle for the last part of Bawashora Lake.
Alternatively, passengers can look for trains that stop at Feni station and continue their journey by road to Mirsarai from there. Train availability, stops, timetables and fares vary according to the service and date of travel. Check the current Bangladesh Railway timetable before booking.
By air from Dhaka
- Book a domestic flight from Dhaka to Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong.
- Arrange a ride from the airport or go to a suitable bus terminal or highway boarding point in the north.
- Proceed towards Mirsharai and Choto Kamaldoho, then arrange local transport to reach the lake.
Excluding airport formalities, a flight usually takes about 45-60 minutes. Airfares vary considerably, and you need to budget separately for road travel from the airport to sightseeing spots.
From Chittagong city
- Reach a bus stand like AK Khan or Alankar, where northbound buses can be found.
- Board the bus bound for Mirsarai, Feni, or Baraiyarhat and ask to get off at Choto Kamaldho Bazar, if the bus stops there.
- Proceed towards the lake by local CNG, motorcycle, or any other pre-arranged vehicle.
To give you a rough idea of the budget, the fare for a local intercity bus from Chittagong to Mirsarai can be around 80-250 taka depending on the departure point and service. If you arrange for a private CNG or car, the cost will be even higher. Confirm the fare before boarding the bus, as this estimated fare is not instant.
By personal car or rented vehicle
From Dhaka, take the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway towards Mirsarai. From Chittagong city, head north towards the Mirsarai area. Near Chhota Kamaldoh Bazar, take the local connecting road east towards the lake. A private car allows you to visit multiple sights in a day, but some of the roads towards the end can be narrow or bumpy.
Vehicle rental prices depend on the type of vehicle, starting point, mileage, waiting time, and whether the driver returns the vehicle on the same day. Ask for a full price list, including fuel, tolls, driver allowance, and waiting charges. For visitors who travel by bus to the highway, local CNG or motorcycles may be a practical option, depending on road conditions and availability.
Walking and local directions
Look for Bawashora Lake or Nilambar Lake in Chota Kamaldoho Bazar. Some local roads pass through village paths, fields or areas near railway lines. Follow the designated path, do not walk along the railway lines and do not rely solely on online maps but ask residents or a local guide to confirm the correct route.
Nearby essential places include Choto Kamaldoho Market, Dhaka-Chittagong Highway, and Wahedpur Village. Allow extra time for the last part of the journey, especially if the area is unfamiliar to you.
