The 172 kuthuris were filled with earth at different levels and gradually decreasing from the bottom to the top, the main foundation was arranged in a layer-by-layer upward kuthuri construction style to be used as the foundation of a towering temple or stupa. Some terracotta plaques of the Gupta era i.e. sixth-seventh centuries are found in this temple. Later in the Sena period a temple was built at Gokul Medha.
